Shri Shivaji
(1630 - 1680)
Shivaji was an Indian warrior-king from the
Maratha Empire. In 1674, he was formally crowned
as chhatrapati (emperor) at Raigad and ruled until
his last day in 1680.
He was recognised as a great national hero during
Indian Independence Movement. In late March 1680,
Shivaji fell ill with fever and dysentery, dying around
April 1680 at the aged of 52.
