Shri Shivaji
(1630 - 1680)

Shivaji was an Indian warrior-king from the
Maratha Empire.  In 1674, he was formally crowned
as chhatrapati (emperor) at Raigad and ruled until
his last day in 1680.

He was recognised as a great national hero during
Indian Independence Movement.  In late March 1680,
Shivaji fell ill with fever and dysentery, dying around
April 1680 at the aged of 52.
