Gerald Ford Jr.
(1913 - 2006)

Gerald Ford was an American politician who served as
the 38th President of the United States from 1974 to 1977.  
Before his accession to the presidency, Ford served as the
 40th Vice President of the United States from 1973 to 1974,
 the only person to have served as both vice president 
and president.  His 895 day-long presidency is 
the shortest in U.S. history.

After experiencing a series of health problems, he died 
at home on December 26, 2006.  At the time of his death, 
Ford was 93 years old and is the longest-lived president 
in American history.
