Dom Pedro I

Dom Pedro I, nicknamed "the Liberator", was the
founder and first ruler of the Empire of Brazil from
1822 to 1831.

on 7 April 1831 Pedro abdicated in favour of his son
Dom Pedro II, and sailed for Europe. After a long and
painful illness, Pedro died on 24 September 1834.
